Blood Expressionist is a mystery thriller that finds a killer delivering messages from beyond the grave through his art. The main character, Legacy, a somewhat damaged, analytical FBI agent, reluctantly leaves the safety of his basement office to catch a killer who sees the world as a canvas which he can coat with his victims’ blood. The Master imprints a code into his works of art that raise his words to the level of gospel; he in fact paints himself as a god.
Legacy sees him as a man. An indecent abomination that represents the greatest challenge of his career. Try as he might, he cannot find a flaw in his execution. But even the perfect crime is susceptible to consolidation – the persistent pressure that caps off future avenues of escape. If Legacy can simply limit the Master, he might eventually paint himself into a corner.
Legacy comes to see the Master’s plan as no-one else can: a big picture divided into individual impulses. By following a set of clues etched into the paintings at the time of death, Legacy finds a weakness. The trap is set. In order to get the Master out in the open, Legacy must extinguish what might be the only light in the closing darkness.

Legacy is one of my favorite characters of all time. His complicated damage, selective yet fierce heart, and brilliant intellect make him more satisfying to read than a hundred garden-variety law enforcement characters. I can’t wait to add Blood Impressionist to my library!
Carol,
You are simply the best. I can’t thank you enough for embracing this series. If this ever becomes a movie, you are my plus one to the premiere. 🙂
